As the pandemic continues, companies have had to adjust to fit the current climate and best serve their communities. Sports and live events are no different. Many major sporting leagues have plans in place to resume their respective seasons. While the crowd may not be present, the spirit of competition is alive and well. The golf season is underway as the PGA Tour continues; the Premier League has resumed its season with the NBA following suit later this month. The MLB as well as the NFL have recently announced their plans to continue their 2020 seasons. The NFL uniquely held its draft remotely in April.
While live events have had to change drastically, their contingency plans are in place. Major sporting leagues have implemented guidelines to try to keep their players and personnel safe. Ranging from things like questionnaires, local testing, and social distancing on the field for personnel, these precautions are necessary to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Some of these leagues are isolating their players and personnel as another precaution.
While a lot of companies have been figuring out ways to adapt, major sporting leagues are setting a different standard. If all goes well, we can hope to see their practices be adapted by college sports and high school sports alike. We’re all excited to see live sports return to our TVs, and we wish for the safety of players and everyone involved.
